A Very Special Session

Hard work, persistence and a united voice wins the day! I am writing this article on August 29, 2018, the day Governor Phil Bryant signed the Mississippi Infrastructure Modernization Act (MIMA) into law at the state Capitol, as the special session came to a close. This day will go down as a special day for the future of county government in our state.

It is with much sadness I share the news of the passing of former Supervisor Willie F. Brown of Humphreys County District 3.  Mr. Brown expired on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.  Mr. Brown served as Supervisor from January 4, 1988 to December 31, 2015 (27 years).  He also served on the MAS Nominating Committee for many years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2018 at 11AM.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 made available $1.5 billion for National Infrastructure Investments, otherwise known as BUILD Transportation Discretionary grants, through September 30, 2020.  For this round of BUILD Transportation grants, the maximum grant award is $25 million, and no more than $150 million can be awarded to a single State, as specified in the FY 2018 Appropriations Act. At least 30 percent of funds must be awarded to projects located in rural areas.
