2020 Regional Capitol Visits
Supervisors and other interested county officials are invited to attend the upcoming 2020 Regional Capitol Visits to help with MAS’s grassroots initiative to protect county interests and advocate legislation that helps and advances county government.
Attendees will meet MAS staff on the first floor of the Capitol by 9:00 a.m. on the date chosen for your region. You will receive a brief update and the day’s meeting schedule. Supervisors and fellow county officials will have the opportunity to walk the Capitol halls, visit the gallery, attend relevant scheduled committee meetings that day, and speak with their legislators regarding MAS’ agenda and key issues effecting county government back home.
Attendees will then meet at the MAS office (793 North President Street, Jackson, MS 39202) at 11:30 am to conduct a brief business meeting. Attending Supervisors will nominate and elect representatives from their region to serve on the MAS Board of Directors, Legislative Committee and the Nominating Committee.
Immediately following the business meeting, MAS will host a luncheon for attendees and legislators. Attendees are encouraged to invite their legislators to attend the luncheon. MAS staff will update supervisors and legislators on MAS’ legislative efforts for the session.
