The Lieutenant Governor’s office has discussed with MAS the possibility of the Mississippi Legislature setting up a matching funds program using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding received by the State to supplement local ARPA-eligible projects. MAS is recommending that each county interested in obtaining matching ARPA funding from the State submit a very detailed proposal to its local legislative delegation and request that the proposal be submitted to the Legislature, including the Lt. Governor’s office, on behalf of the county.
We recommend that the proposal submitted by the county for matching state funds shall include, but not be limited to, the following information: scope of the project, benefits of the project, how the project applies to the ARPA guidelines, total cost of the project and the amount of match needed from the Legislature for the project, etc.
The 2022 Regular Session begins January 4, 2022, so don’t wait to contact your local legislative delegation if you are interested.
