TATE REEVES GOVERNOR

MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

CHRIS WELLS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is pleased to inform you that we are releasing regulations and other information online today that will aid eligible cities, counties, and certain public utilities in applying for the Mississippi Municipality and County Water Infrastructure (MCWI) grant program. The MCWI grant program, pursuant to SB 2822 (signed into law on April 26, 2022), makes $450 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding available for projects involving drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater. It also emphasizes assistance to economically disadvantaged communities, as well as projects promoting regional development. These MCWI grant funds, administered by MDEQ, are available as matching funds for local ARPA fiscal recovery funds. The information being released today provides cities and counties with advanced notice of the information needed to prepare for the online application portal when it opens—as expected later this year.  The MCWI Regulations and other information can be found via links on the MDEQ website or directly at www.mswaterinfrastructure.com.  We will also be hosting informational webinars and in-person meetings. Dates and times for those events will be posted online once finalized. If you need further information from our office, please contact us at MCWI@mdeq.ms.gov
