MAS Inmate Medical/Rx Cost Containment Program
During the 2010 Legislative Session, the Mississippi Association of Supervisors ("MAS") advocated for the passage of House Bill 1111, which assist counties in saving on inmate medical cost. The Mississippi Legislature passed the bill in support of helping counties save. The Bill reads in part "..medical care service providers will be paid...an amount no greater than the reimbursement rate applicable based on the Mississippi Medicaid reimbursement rate. The Board of Supervisors of any county shall not be liable for any cost...that exceeds the Mississippi Medicaid reimbursement rate." This program has been very successful in aiding counties to save over 80% on inmate medical/rx cost.
